Meet our Volunteers - Paulette Kuehl

The Community Foundation has the pleasure of working with local volunteers who enjoy giving their time and talents to help further our charitable mission. One particular volunteer greets us at the front desk each Thursday with a pleasant and welcoming “good morning.”

Paulette Kuehl has been a Community Foundation volunteer since February 2002. At that time, the Community Foundation was located in the Union Arcade building in downtown Davenport and had 4 employees. 
I asked Paulette how she picked the Community Foundation out of the many nonprofits in the Quad Cities that she could choose from.

“I was reading the Quad City Times one morning and saw a listing of all the organizations that were looking for volunteers,” stated Paulette. It was as simple as that.”

Paulette helps us with the day-to-day tasks in the office. She completes scanning projects, files papers, types articles, and helps with event preparation.

I was curious what kept Paulette coming back every week since 2002 – that is an admirable volunteer commitment.

“The staff members are friendly, it’s a nice office environment, and I like the variety of work I do,” said Paulette.

In addition to her volunteer hours at the Community Foundation, Paulette also spends every Tuesday morning volunteering at the ARC of the Quad Cities, and every other Thursday morning at Midwest Writing Center in Davenport. 

Paulette is a life-long Davenport resident and graduated from Davenport West. Before entering the volunteering phase of her life, Paulette worked in bookkeeping at the Scott County Treasurers Office for 34 years and 9 months. Prior to that, Paulette was employed by Strumm Auto Supplies and Sanitary Farms, both Quad City businesses. In her free time, Paulette is an active member of the local Red Hat Club. She also enjoys count-cross-stitch and reading novels.

The Community Foundation is ever grateful that Paulette happened to read the volunteer page of the Times back in 2002.
