More than $240,000 has been donated to the Quad Cities Disaster Recovery Fund
On Thursday evening, the Quad Cities Community Foundation activated the Quad Cities Disaster Recovery Fund for the community’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The fund was started with a commitment of $100,000 from the Quad Cities Community Foundation. Within hours, the fund grew to $200,000 thanks to matching support from the Regional Development Authority.
Overnight, multiple businesses contributed to the fund—which currently stands at $240,000. Lead gifts include contributions from ARCONIC, Ascentra Credit Union Foundation, Estes Construction, Russell Construction, and The Joyce & Tony Singh Family Foundation.
“The impact is already being felt in the Quad Cities, and more needs will certainly arise in the days and weeks ahead,” said Sherry Ristau, president and CEO of the Quad Cities Community Foundation. “We are grateful to the generous Quad Citizens who are standing with us as we proactively prepare for the days, weeks and months ahead.”
Donations of any size—from individuals and businesses—are currently being accepted at www.qccommunityfoundation.org. Just click here to give.
Grants from the fund will first focus on disproportionately affected communities by addressing the economic impact of reduced and lost work already resulting from the outbreak, immediate needs of vulnerable populations caused by novel coronavirus-related closures, and the increased demand for medical information and support. The long-term application of the fund will focus on additional needs that will inevitably arise.
The Community Foundation will administer grants from the Quad Cities Disaster Recovery Fund in collaboration with regional organizations coordinating pandemic response. Funds will be released on a rolling basis as fundraising continues throughout the outbreak and recovery phases of this crisis, making it possible to move resources quickly and to adapt to evolving needs in subsequent funding phases.
“We wish we could predict what tomorrow will bring. We cannot,” said Ristau. “What we can promise is that we will continue to work with generous people to ensure that Quad Citizens have the support they need in the days and weeks ahead. This is an unprecedented moment, and we are proud to act fast—with compassion, with concern, and with hope.”
