PURPOSE

The Community Foundation of Cedar County is here to help our community's charitable projects and programs contribute to the quality of life in our area. One of the ways that is done is through grantmaking.

Founded in 2005, the Community Foundation of Cedar County annually distributes funds from its endowment earnings to numerous area non-profit organizations to fulfill our mission, "To enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve by encouraging permanent charitable giving to meet the needs of present and future generations." The Community Foundation has a broad, flexible purpose providing support to a wide variety of non-profit organizations.  Since its inception, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in Cedar County.

Eligibility

  • The Community Foundation of Cedar County makes grants only to non-profit organizations preferably with 501(c)(3) status or qualified governmental agencies.

  • Organizations submitting an application must comply with the Quad Cities Community Foundation’s Diversity and Non-Discrimination Policy.

  • Grants are not awarded in the following areas: annual fund raising, organizational endowment funds, deficit financing, grants to individuals, or for sectarian purposes.

  • Only one project per organization, or another organization if the project benefits a common project or entity, will be considered during any given grant cycle.

  • The Final Report for any previous grant from an organization, or another organization if the new project benefits a common project or entity, must be accepted prior to submitting a new grant application.

Fall Matching Grant Cycle

Organizations eligible to receive these awards will have to provide proof of a dollar-for-dollar match for a project. Matching funds shall consist of dollars acquired through an organization’s fundraising or private solicitation efforts. They may not include funds from normal operating budgets or other grants. While strongly encouraged as part of the project, in-kind contributions shall not count toward the organization’s match money. Proof of matching funds must be provided no later than December 31 of the year an organization has applied. The project completion deadline is December 31 of the following year.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The Community Foundation of Cedar County uses an electronic grant submission system. Online submissions only will be accepted. Before accessing the online application system, please review the Online Tutorial Document. Click here to access the online application.

Grant recipients are required to file a "Final Report" by July 1 of the following year for the spring grant cycle and December 1 of the following year for the fall matching funds grant cycle.
